AHA! Learning Center

With the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing lockdown, AHA created the Eskwelang Kapamilya Program

A free text-based Facebook school for public schools kids that encourages the participation of not only the students but also their family.

Eskwelang Kapamilya includes modules to hone reading and writing skills, and lessons on the novel coronavirus and its implications. It’s also designed to keep parents informed about government plans and initiatives and connect them to medical professionals if needed.

While many education interventions came about during this time, not many of them were accessible to the most vulnerable because of their lack of access to the internet.

This project aims:
  • To keep families informed and calm (to simply explain government initiatives);
  • To help further their reading and writing skills;
  • To help kids adjust to the new normal; and
  • To provide parents with a venue where they can air out their concerns and be in touch with medical professionals.

AHA also runs the Eskwelang Kapamilya educational tele-radio show that airs Monday to Friday from 11 am to 12 pm, and Saturday at  9 am to 10 am on DZRJ 810 AM Radyo Bandido and Sky Cable TV Plus Channel 224.

To date, AHA has serviced over 19,000 public school students.
