CHECK OUT THIS J-BEAUTY TREATMENT THAT’S TAKING OVER TIKTOK

Change up your beauty session by adding this spa treatment to the mix!

If you’re on Tiktok, chances are you’ve already heard about the new J-Beauty trend that’s taking over different countries. Searching up #headspa will give you an array of ASMRs and other 60-second videos showing the process of people getting the said treatment.

It varies with the establishment but essentially, the scalp is cleansed, exfoliated, and massaged. Sometimes, the massage includes not only the scalp but also the neck and shoulders. If the salon is extra fancy they even use a camera-tipped wand so that customers can look at the before and after of the scalp to see the difference.

The trend is slowly making its way in the metro, so we talked to the owner of Marqed Salon and renowned celebrity hairstylist, Mark Rosales, to tell us more about it.

The Benefits

If you’ve noticed dandruff scattered on your pillows or on the shoulders, chances are, it’s due to having a dry scalp. “Japanese scalp spa treatments assist [in relieving] a dry scalp by releasing natural conditioning oils and unclogging hair follicles, which in turn reduces the amount of flaky, unpleasant skin…” Mark advises. “In addition, they promote blood flow in the head and neck region, which enhances the delivery of nutrients to the scalp and benefits hair growth.”

As a result, it can bring back moisture to the hair, as well as get that added strength and desired bounce! Mark notes that scalp treatments differ from hair treatments such that, “[It tackles] the troubles like oily scalp, dry and flaky scalp, and dandruff.”

How It’s Done

Marqed Salon offers the Plarmia Balancing Treatment wherein they incorporate Japanese products by Plarmia, in working their salon magic.

“Prior [to] doing anything else, we use our scalp scanner to scan the client’s scalp, and then we shampoo the client’s hair,” Mark shares. “Typically, you begin by gently massaging your scalp with the shampoo and work your way down to each individual hair strand.” You get to just sit back and relax as the massage typically lasts for 10 to 15 minutes.

The Aftereffects

What can be seen afterward is a clearer and healthier scalp with most of the flakes cleared off, proven by the before-and-after photos. “Overall, our Plarmia Balancing Treatment did wonders for their scalp condition troubles and made it possible for them to maintain salon-like results,” says Mark.

As an expert, he heartily recommends and advises Japanese scalp spas to everyone, “Considering that everyone deserves to improve the health of their scalp and hair, particularly those who are dealing with severe scalp diseases.”

On your next trip to the salon, don’t forget that aside from the hair, your scalp needs some love, too!
